Our first six years of #travel were an epic road trip around North America.
Now we’re on a #sailing voyage about the world. Did we have any previous sailing experience, of course not!
Neither of us is overly talented, smart, rich, lucky, or retired. But that doesn’t stop us from reaching far-flung destinations, having wild #adventures and managing everything that makes living aboard a moving vessel possible.
We’re two ordinary people that just so happen to live an extraordinary life.
And this is why we publish our lives on the world wide web. We share in hopes of inspiring you to find your adventure.

Wow that was close you do not want to run aground on all Chrysler cars back in the day they had double fan belts with double redundancy. A car isn't in any danger of running a ground, kudos to the captain for not panicking and handling the situation.

I meant to comment earlier about your delaminating windows and the leaks that go with them and chips on how to fix them, get some cable really like stainless steel cable that's really as 4 or 5 strands in it with one of you outside and one of you inside rep handles on it so it doesn't hurt your hand going back and forth can saw the window out without cracking and breaking it then you can carefully scrape off all the adhesive with razor knife or something similar before you reinstall it, of course it doesn't make any sense if your windshield or window is cracker broken you just have to wait for a new one, but that's how you remove windshields from a car at the junkyard that you want to buy, then it's just about acquiring windshield adhesive it's black goop that they used to install car windshields I don't know how available it is in your area that way you can glue your window back in put duct tape over it to hold it till it dries and you won't have any more leaks anyway. , Don't remove or install a heavy windshield or window by yourself it can hurt your back don't ask me how I know that. Things I need to do I need to set up my new PC cuz I can't see very well on this cell phone and I'll be able to send the receipt messages without going back and spell checking

Anyone can become an Amazon Affiliate. You can Google how the program works, but basically if you create an Affiliate link for a product and someone else uses that link to buy the product, Amazon shares a tiny percentage of its profit with you. Sort of a thank you for spreading the word about that product. Curious Minion

You guys probably know this by now, but for others, the engine buzzer goes off when one or both of the following conditions occur: low oil pressure ( like when key is turned on to start engine, but before starter engages - no oil pressure) or overheating. When I look at your gauges at 17.49 , engine is off - no rpms on the tach, but it looks like the upper left gauge is the temp gauge with a warning light on and the needle on the high side. Not sure why the engine shut down, but it is good thing since it was going to overheat with no water pump belt. Great channel. Best wishes from Seattle

I just realized why you guys have almost 400k subscribers ... I've seen a few of your older vids and then a couple of these newer ones and thought ... "good folk" with great personalities putting out great content ... that's edited beautifully. What's not to love? (and I don't even know how to swim, never mind sail. lol!) Here's the funny thing though ... if I could have made one criticism it was going to be that these people are just too "happy" ALL THE TIME. But then I saw Nikki's face at 16:25 and Jason's starting at 17:06 and thought ... hmmm ... they're "real" after all! ;) Keep up the great content guys! :)

Lots of good things here. Firstly the sound of silence when you get the sails up and and shutdown the engines. As you know there is nothing sweeter and after your trials and tribulations it must have felt like an utterly deserved re-set. Secondly, yes you had a bit of a moment with the mooring but there was no shouting or histrionics or any injuries dealing with it. Thus lessons learnt but no harm, no foul and I've been there in the water with my wife backing a yacht towards me because a line ashore mooring went a bit wrong. It happens and you grow and move on. I don't know whether this would be something you might contemplate but we've started to back towards mooring buoys because we don't like hanging over the bow, especially if there is no bridle to hook. This is from a mono hull swim platform but you could do it equally from a sugar scoop. So back into wind towards the buoy, get a line onto it and then walk the line forward. The advantage, as we see it is both my wife and me are close by so communication is easy plus whilst she is on the wheel she can really easily see what I am doing. The downside is it is a faff walking the line forward to settle the buoy on the bow but, overall, it works super well for us. So going back to the good points, you both demonstrated mental muscle memory to get the boat underway and at the end you were both talking calmly with each other with no blame etc. being ladled out. As a couple you therefore smashed it! Anyway a lovely video, as ever, and wishing you the best for 2021 with good health to both of you and keep sharing your experiences.

Something not quite right with the positioning of the jib sheet IMO... further back and further from the centerline I think would be able to flatten it out a bit and not curl it back on the wind... ..It's the little things that give greater speed... Was raised in a 58 ft cutter with 4ft bow sprit, 68ft mast double diamond rig (my fort in the tree) ... and we had running backstays which were crucial especially in heavy winds... so I kinda have an eye for shape and angles to the wind ... think about a slide block and possibly two, one outboard and the other inboard ... Just a thought. Balancing the sails when sailing alone and tying the tiller is really a great way to get in touch with her and the wind... Blessings.. miss it so...

I may be totally wrong as I'm not there but it seems you were sailing upwind in light winds with the traveler right out (min 12:15). Dropping traveler really depowers the mainsail so I would try to bring it in closer to centerline under those conditions. As I said, I wasn't there so wind conditions probably weren't what they seemed to be (apologies if that's the case). Safe sailing.

I would keep an eye on the oil in that engine to make sure it doesn't get milky from a blown head gasket since you were overheating before she turned the key off and the engine continued overheating because it was still running with no alarm. The temp gauge looked pretty pegged before she turned the key off. No idea how much longer the engine ran before you got tied up. Was the alternator or water pump seized? The belt coming off can really confuse since the tach signal comes from the alternator. You look at the panel and everything indicates the engine is off. Weak.
